Tapalanote is looking for enthusiastic female singers.  Even if you can’t sing (yet) and are unfamiliar with music theory, you are very welcome. Do you want to meet new people? Fancy a weekly dose of fun and atmosphere? Bring your good humor and enthusiasm and we will work together to teach you how to sing during our weekly rehearsals. We sing a wide repertoire from pop to jazz and classical.

]]>Sat, 3 Sep 2011 10:31:27 GMT<![CDATA[Show Your Support for Gay Pride Weeks Worldwide! ]]> One of our EGOW members brought to the attention of the committee this startling news. And we thought it important to share it with you as well:

There is a recent movement to prevent Gay Pride in Tours, France from taking place.

This group maintains a blog, http://pasdegaypridecheznous.blogspot.com/, of which appears politically conservative, religiously inspired, and homophobic to say the least.

In addition to the blog, they are trying to rally support to petition Gay Pride in Tours, and if they gain momentum, who knows where else in the world petition and movements of this kind might extend?

So what are we to do? 

Let's be visible; let's be pro-active; let's embrace this power of free speech and spread open-mindedness.

And let's show that we DO NOT AGREE with the message of Anti-Gay movements. One such attempt, as suggested by our EGOW member, is to signal their blog and their facebook page as an infringement to the rules (discrimination on the grounds of sexual identity/orientation, incitement to hatred).

We must show strength in support of Gay Pride in Brussels for the sake of our Rainbow counterparts worldwide.

EGOW is equally proud to participate in this year's events. We will host our 2nd year of Queer Tango, followed later in the week by an EGOW Quiz at the MAC House. And if you can't make it to the events during the week, at the very least, come join us for a Champagne Breakfast before the Brussels Gay Pride March on Saturday, May 14th!

We will be parading alongside the Rainbow House (MAC) bus, and dancing to the beats of the backseat D.J.!

Embrace your beautiful rainbow self! See you this week in celebration!

]]>Mon, 9 May 2011 21:35:08 GMT<![CDATA[Bar Night at the Rainbow House]]> Thirsty for conversation? Interested in meeting someone new? Well, have we the perfect sip of something for you! Come quench those parched lips every 4th Wednesday of the month at EGOW's Bar night.

We at EGOW host our very own night at the La Maison Arc-en-Ciel (otherwise affectionately known as the MAC house) http://www.rainbowhouse.be/?lang=fr

The MAC house, conveniently located in the center at Rue du Marché au Charbon 42, is a cozy setting, complete with music and your darling EGOW committee members serving the bar. Beverages are offered at, dare I say, a fantastic price! And of both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic variety.

Some people might consider the Rainbow district of Brussels to be small, but we at EGOW consider it intimate.

And that's exactly what we hope to foster for you at bar night—a friendly, no-pressure, casual, and intimate setting.

So remember to circle, star, and double exclamation point your calendar: EVERY 4th WEDNESDAY of the month. You deserve a treat, so treat yourself to a drink as you meet new people, rekindle lost acquaintances, and hey, maybe even unearth a new darling daisy. (We do host speed-dating events, but not every month!)

Point being, bar night is what you make of it. And if you can't make it to the other events, at least aim for an enjoyable Wednesday night from 19h30 to 23h00. The crowd numbers fluctuate throughout the night, so come whenever's clever (when it is most convenient for you)!
